In de fotografie, zo leert ons de oude fotomeester Henri Cartier-Bresson, komt het aan op het beslissende moment. Ook wanneer die uitspraak onderhand tot een cliché geworden is: minder waar is ze daarom nog niet. En in het bijzonder geldt ze nog steeds voor een tak van fotografie die we als street life photography zouden kunnen betitelen.
Welnu, ik ben geen Henri Cartier-Bresson. En talloos zijn de beslissende momenten geweest die ik in mijn leven als fotograaf gemist heb. Maar soms lukt er ook wel eens wat. En daarom laat ik hier een paar street life foto’s zien die, zo verbeeld ik mij althans, wel op het juiste moment werden gemaakt.

You did well, Ed…great captures of street-life. The photo with the huge dog is very compelling with the mixture of the people’s ages and their apparent similar culture…and the very last photo, if I read it correctly, with the pigeon and the blind man…what a capture, a treasure…and very nice that you kept the spot of red to help us understand the magic here. Well done, sir.
